Job Description : Business Analyst

The Business Analyst – Data Analytics will be instrumental in supporting the GMNS (Global Merchant and Network Services) team to achieve operational excellence. This position focuses on designing and refining testing and monitoring strategies, with a particular emphasis on implementing automated risk monitoring systems. The goal is to enhance efficiency, ensure compliance, and drive the team towards delivering top-tier performance in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

As a Business Analyst, your main job will be to identify and address operational risks using advanced analytics, while supporting strong governance frameworks. You will work together with key stakeholders, such as risk, legal, and compliance teams, to implement projects. During this process, it will be your responsibility to maintain a culture of excellence and integrity.

Job Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis and Insights : Your role will focus on enhancing offer redemption rates and improving merchant and customer satisfaction, where you will deliver actionable insights using analytics. You will develop and execute strategic analytical initiatives tailored to American Express Offers, different industries, and key merchants. Using Amex’s closed-loop network, you will generate relevant and intelligent data that will inform business decisions and drive growth and efficiency.
Risk Management and Monitoring : You will be responsible for developing and refining methods to identify, assess, and manage risks. This will include creating governance frameworks for key risk indicators to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations. Working closely with risk management teams and business leaders, you will enhance oversight of operational risks and drive improvements in risk management processes across the organization.
Strategic Collaboration : Working with international partners, located in different business divisions, is essential so that analytical solutions can be aligned with the company’s goals. You will convert unstructured business requests into well-defined analytical strategies. By collaborating with different teams, you will ensure that data-driven decisions are aligned with the organization’s risk appetite framework, maintaining consistency and focus across all initiatives.
Leadership and Innovation : When you are faced with challenging business issues, you will propose creative and evidence-driven solutions. Depending on data availability and time constraints, you will provide multiple analytical viewpoints and responses. By adopting a customer-centric leadership approach, you will ensure that your insights are aligned with the overall objectives of the company, allowing decisions to be made that meet both business and customer needs.

Required Skills

Strong ability to analyze and solve problems.
Proficiency in targeting tactics and providing information.
Proficiency in R, Python, SAS, SQL, Hive, and PySpark.
Application of advanced statistical techniques.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or related field.
0–3 years of relevant experience in the analytics domain.
Experience in the merchant/commercial business segment.
Postgraduate qualification in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or Management.
